I have been making homemade dog food for my pack since March of 2020. Back then, I was doing what most home cooks do:
I was winging it.
I relied on my intuition and a rotating list of ingredients, hoping that variety would equal nutrition.
But in 2023, the stakes changed. My intuition was no longer enough.
Molly’s health journey became a "mathematical impossibility". When she was diagnosed with multiple bouts of pancreatitis, she was put on an ultra-low-fat prescription diet. But Molly also has epilepsy. Her brain desperately needed healthy fats for stability, yet those same fats triggered her pancreas.
While on her low-fat prescription diet, her seizure activity exploded—she was suffering through a seizure a day, despite being on three different medications.
I am currently working to transition this complex tool into a user-friendly mobile app. My goal is to move pet parents away from "winging it" and toward the Peace of Mind that comes with clinical-grade homemade nutrition.
Currently, Molly’s Magic Meal Maker is a proprietary tool used for 1-on-1 private formulation sessions.
In late 2025, the final blow came: Type 1 Diabetes, a direct result of the scarring from her previous pancreatitis episodes.
I was told her needs were too complex to manage. A specialist told me:
I flat-out refused to accept that! I knew that if I could get the math right—the exact, molecular math—I could give her a quality of life the specialists didn't think was possible.
I disappeared into a spreadsheet for months. I mapped out the data, audited the standards, and built the tool I needed to keep my dog alive. This isn't just a recipe calculator; it is a professional-grade clinical formulator.
The 4 Pillars of Molly's Magic Meal Maker:
Data Integrity: Built on a database of 230+ ingredients, each mapped to verifiable source identification codes (FDC IDs).
Clinical Precision: Every recipe is audited against strict AAFCO and NRC standards, with 46 nutritional channels monitored in real-time.
The "Fix the Fails" Engine: A proprietary logic system that identifies nutritional gaps and suggests the exact gram-weight of whole-food ingredients (and supplements when needed) to reach 100% compliance.
No More Guessing: We use 100% "As Fed" values to ensure that what goes into the bowl is exactly what the body needs to thrive.
Molly is currently seizure-free, her blood sugar is managed, and her pancreas is calm. We proved the specialists wrong.
We did it with math!

Molly’s Magic Meal Maker is currently a proprietary clinical engine used in private formulation sessions. My mission is to transition this complex logic into a user-friendly mobile app, empowering every pet parent to move away from "winging it" and toward the Peace of Mind that comes with clinical-grade, whole-food nutrition.

This is how a passing recipe looks in Molly's Magic Meal Maker. It lists all the nutrient markers, the recipe values for each, and how
those values rank against the AAFCO Min
and Max thresholds. Once your recipe is entered into the tool, you get a green
pass, or a red fail, depending on how the
overall recipe aligns to the AAFCO guidelines on a per 1,000 Kcal basis.
I cannot begin to tell you how much
peace of mind comes from knowing that
you are actually meeting all of the
nutritional needs of your dog(s) when you
decide to take their food formulation into
your own hands.
There is even a special condition checker that allows me to toggle on and off certain markers depending on the dog we are crafting recipes for. One of my dogs, Sky, doesn't have any dietary restrictions. I can leave all of the special conditions toggled off.
This is what Molly's toggles currently look like:
